Shot for a restaurant and spa yesterday, an 8 hour ordeal when said and done. Super fun, natural talent and a great photographer made it into a great fun day full of laughter.
This morning, I had a 2 hour meeting for upcoming shoots. Fun exiting times as being part of the initial phase give opportunities for brain storming and is full of creative thoughts. It is also important for me to understand the process of what and why certain images gets purchased as stock, has to be shot at location, or can be shot in studio and stitched. In the upcoming one, I won’t travel – so my responsibility is taking over the local photographer in studio. Some pictures has talent, other just props that I need to buy or have made. I love this job – every day is different!
Like now, I’m leaving the office to make returns from yesterdays shoot. Only a soft pink cashmere cardigan and a silk blouse got used (her own sweater was too close to the color of the cushion), all other talent came dressed perfectly after my direction! Easy!!
When I wrote earlier regarding seasonal wardrobe etc, I learned something important. And that is to always have back-ups. Things happen, and even during low budget shoots when I ask talent to bring their own wardrobe, colors might not match with each other, with the background, or with the feeling of the shoot.
Also, department stores like TJMAXX or Marshall’s offers a wider selection of brands than other department stores, and also carry out of season items. So I always grab a few things. I can return what has not been worn, or worn just for the shoot as long as the tag is on. Better safe than sorry.
Here is the result of the ad (sorry for bad resolution – blaming the camera on my iPad 2)
Listen up peeps! Islay, one of my favorite brands (look at older posts) are having a trunk show in Venice on Saturday. They are having a pop up store on Abbott Kinney. Check out the link, and if you print it you will receive an additional 10% off!
If you go, please let me know what you bought and how it was!
Having some challenges right now as I went from slow fall to 5 shoots in less than 3 weeks, with all seasonal wardrobe and props. Meaning finding summer dresses and patio furniture in November…
The department stores have things available on their websites but it is harder to ship, you don’t get shipping fees returned (which can be a lot on a table and 8 chairs!) you can’t really see and feel (especially clothes!) and sometimes it can’t be shipped fast, and I can’t run the risk of not having it here…
I have also been location scouting for a Sycamore tree, something that was a must for client- but we realized that they are all brown and the leaves are falling, so we are under time pressure. And then there is the weather…, not equally frustrating as June gloom, but the forecast is showing that rain is coming, which means no go for us….
Busy, busy back soon!
