My friend, who I styled for the Emmy’s (look at earlier blog entries) asked me to help out when she is going to the Director’s Guild Gala later this month. It is dressier than the Emmy’s so we will go for a long dress or skirt this time. Since I have been dress shopping for a shoot, I am completely up to date what is out there right now. I found an amazing black skirt at Nordstrom, classic, matte finish and just simply elegant. To add a little spice I suggested that she would pair that timeless piece with a sweetheart bustier to add some sexy sultry attitude. It would be great with the hair up and a statement necklace, or bare with her long hair down.
Back to my own reality, I was sitting at the hair dresser getting my hair done, and I suddenly saw this trend report in InTouch
Sometimes you are on the trend!
After trying on my black pleated strapless dress that I was planning on wearing to the Hallmark Gala, I felt too safe. Black dress, black shoes and gold accessories. Boring!! Since I had planned a similar outfit for my friend, I decided I would be a little more bold and go for it myself.
As the car had arrived and I was ready Dylan looked at me and said: “Babe, it is the Hallmark Channel” We both laughed and decided they would have to deal with it!
